Most of these orders share a shape: one date on the calendar, a guest list that keeps changing, and somebody who volunteered to handle the shirts. The useful thing about printing to order is that a late addition is not a problem - an aunt who confirms on Thursday is just another order.

Start with the job the shirt is doing

Before picking a design, decide which of these the shirt is mostly for. It changes the garment, the wording and how much it is worth spending.

  • A keepsake. A reunion shirt, a bar mitzvah sweatshirt, a memorial tee. People wear it for years, so put the date small and the name or the meaning big.
  • A costume for one night. A bachelorette weekend, a Halloween group, a 40th with a running joke. The shirt is mostly for photos, so the cheapest garment that looks right in pictures is usually the right one.
  • A way to find each other. A family trip, a charity walk, a theme park day. Loud shirt colors and a large back print matter more than fine detail, because people look for the group from behind.
  • A favor. At a kids' party or a shower, the shirt replaces the goody bag. One design for everyone, handed out at the door.

Many celebrations mix two: a reunion shirt is a keepsake and a way to find your branch at the picnic.

Who gets which shirt

  • The guest of honor. Give them the same art with their own line ("The Bride," "Retired - Finally") or a different shirt color, so they stand out in every photo.
  • Hosts and helpers. A "Crew" or "Host" line on the back tells guests who to ask, which matters at a reunion of eighty people where half have never met.
  • Guests. The largest group and the one where cost per person matters. Keep their shirt to one printed surface unless the back print is the point.

You do not need three designs. Ask Remi for one design and then two variations that change only one line of text. Each version goes in the cart in its own quantity.

Mixed ages in one order

Celebrations are the orders most likely to run from a kindergartner to a grandparent.

  • Youth sizes run up to Youth XL (the Youth Tee starts at XS); adult sizes run S-2XL. Every size of a garment costs the same, so a 2XL is the same price as a small.
  • Youth and adult are not one continuous scale. Size by fit, not by age. A tall twelve-year-old may need an Adult S; the Youth XL vs Adult Small page compares them.
  • Older relatives often want more coverage. A Long Sleeve or a Crewneck in the same design is an easier sell than a tee. The Long Sleeve runs smaller than usual, so size up.
  • Collect sizes by link. A sizes link from collect shirt sizes lets each household enter who the shirt is for and what size, up to 300 answers, with no account and nothing paid on the link. One button adds the answers to your order.

Because every shirt is printed for your order, a size ordered wrong is not returnable.

Design patterns that work for celebrations

  • Name, occasion, year. "The Okafor Family Reunion - 2027." The plainest pattern, and the one that ages best.
  • The badge. A round or shield-shaped emblem with the name around the edge and an image in the middle. Works on the left chest of a Polo for a dressier event, or large on a tee.
  • The fake tour shirt. Front says "The Retirement Tour"; the back lists the stops, the guest list or the years of service. The back print is an extra surface.
  • One word, very large. "Bride." "Squad." "Grandma."
  • A drawing from the guest of honor. A child's drawing for their own birthday, a grandparent's handwriting for a memorial. Upload a photo of it and ask Remi to clean it up for print; the artwork file prep page explains what scans well.

Big, simple layouts read best from ten feet away; see group shirt design tips and the idea galleries.

On copyright: a shirt that uses a movie logo, a sports team's mark or a cartoon character belongs to someone else. Describe a theme instead ("a cartoon dinosaur in a party hat") and Remi will draw something original.

Timeline: count back from the date

Production typically takes up to 10 business days after checkout, plus transit. The cart shows expected delivery dates before you pay; there is no rush printing, so plan for about four weeks:

  • Four weeks out: finish the design with Remi and send the sizes link with the invitation or the group text.
  • Three weeks out: close the link, add the answers, check out.
  • Two weeks out: shirts are in production. Faster shipping can be added at checkout for most orders to the 48 contiguous states, but it speeds delivery, not printing.
  • The week of: shirts arrive. Late RSVPs can still go in their own small order if there is time.

You can cancel within 12 hours after paying if printing has not started. More on deadlines: ordering deadlines and timing.

Budget per guest

Every price below includes one printed surface. Each extra surface (a back print beside a front, or a sleeve) adds $8.99 to $10.99 depending on the product. Bulk prices apply automatically, counted on each item's own pieces across sizes and colors.

Shipping is free to any US address. For families in different places, one order can ship to up to 10 addresses with one payment; the first ships free and each further address adds its extra postage, shown in the cart. A discount code does not stack with a bulk price, and codes do not apply to polos.

Gifting: if the host is paying, an Adult Tee with a single print keeps the cost per guest lowest. If guests pay for their own, a free group storefront lets each family order at the listed price, shipped to that family.

How to order with Remi

  1. Open the designer and describe the celebration in plain English - "a family reunion shirt, Kelly Green, a big oak tree with the family name in the roots, 2027 under it" - or upload a logo, a crest or a drawing.
  2. Refine by chat until it is right, and ask for the guest-of-honor and host versions.
  3. See it on each item you plan to order, in each color, and add back or sleeve prints if you want them.
  4. Pay at checkout. Designing is free. Mix garments, colors, youth and adult sizes in one cart. Need a quote for a reimbursement or a committee? The cart makes a quote PDF good for 30 days.

Questions about custom party shirts

Is there a minimum for party shirts?

No. One shirt is a real order, so you can order for six people or sixty, and a late RSVP can go in its own order. Bulk prices start automatically at 12 or 24 pieces of one item, depending on the item.

How early should I order shirts for a party?

About four weeks before the date. Production is up to 10 business days after checkout, plus transit, and the cart shows expected delivery dates before you pay. There is no rush printing.

Can different guests get different versions of the shirt?

Yes. Make one design and a few variations with Remi - a guest-of-honor line, a host line - and add each version to the cart in its own sizes and quantity.

Can shirts ship to guests in different places?

Yes, up to 10 addresses on one order with one payment. The first address ships free, and each further address adds the extra postage shown in the cart.

What happens if a shirt arrives misprinted?

Send a photo within 30 days of delivery for a reprint or refund. A size ordered wrong or a change of mind is not returnable, because every shirt is printed for your order.

For whoever volunteered to do the shirts

Designing shirts for the day itself

Party shirts end up in every photo from the day, and in drawers for years after. They are also where the most well-meant designs run into copyright, blurry photos and late deliveries. Here is how to get it right the first time.

What works

  1. One shared design, one personal line

The family name, the place and the year on the front works for everyone from toddler to grandparent. A role or a first name on the back - Bride, Crew, Grandpa - makes each shirt someone's.

  2. Put the date and the place in the design

"Rivera Reunion · Lake Tahoe · 2027" turns a matching shirt into a keepsake and tells anyone in a photo which trip it was.

  3. Big, bold and readable in a group photo

A back print sits a few inches below the collar and is typically 10 to 14 inches wide. Fill it with a few large words rather than a paragraph; small print blurs at photo distance.

  4. Color-code the branches

For a big group, give each side of the family or each team its own shirt color with the same design. Everyone matches, and it is easy to see who is who.

  5. Match the keepsake to the event

Tees for everyone; a tote or tumbler for the bridal party or the birthday guest of honor; a mug for a retirement; a hoodie for a fall reunion or an evening on the water.

What to watch for

Characters, lyrics and movie quotes

Print partners block third-party characters and copyrighted text, and the Copyright Office is clear that song lyrics are protected even though short phrases and titles are not.

How to handle it

Ask for an original design in the spirit of the theme - a pirate crew rather than a film's pirate - and write your own line instead of a lyric. At checkout you confirm you own or have permission for everything in the design.

Team or college logos on tailgate shirts

NCAA and pro marks need written permission, and unlicensed merchandise can be seized.

Source: NCAA trademarks

How to handle it

Use the team's colors, your city and an original design. Remi can make a fan shirt that is unmistakably yours without anyone's logo.

Faces of celebrities, or of anyone who did not agree

Most states protect a person's name and likeness from commercial use, and merchandise is the textbook case.

Source: Digital Media Law Project: using a name or likeness

How to handle it

No celebrity faces. For family photos, check with the person in them - or with their family - before the shirt is printed.

Memorial photos that print soft

A studio or school portrait usually belongs to the photographer, and a phone screenshot of a printed photo rarely has the resolution for a 10-inch print.

Source: U.S. Copyright Office: photographers; Printify: high-quality design files

How to handle it

Use a photo you took or have a print release for. Remi checks it against 300 DPI at the size you place it and, when it falls short, says so and offers a smaller print that stays sharp.

Neon and very bright colors

Colors outside the standard screen range shift when printed; neon pinks and greens come out duller than they look on a phone.

Source: Printful: graphics guide

How to handle it

Pick a bright shirt color and print on it, rather than relying on neon ink. The preview shows the design on the actual garment color.

Shirts that arrive after the party

Every custom shirt is printed after it is ordered. The late RSVP is the usual reason an order slips.

Source: Printify: production times

How to handle it

Production takes up to 10 business days, then free tracked shipping. Count back from the day the shirts have to be worn, not the day you decide. With no minimum, a late guest is simply another order.

How to approach it

  1. Write the brief

The occasion, the date and place, how many people, the tone (funny, sentimental, elegant), and whether anyone gets a name or a role.

  2. Try two or three directions

Ask Remi for a few takes in the event's colors and compare them on the shirt.

  3. Let the group vote

Send a share link to the people who care and pick one.

  4. Proof the details

Check every name, date and spelling, and make sure any photo passes the print check at its size.

  5. Collect sizes and order

Set a size deadline a week before you order, and give late responders a default size. Production takes up to 10 business days, then free tracked shipping. Count back from the day the shirts have to be worn, not the day you decide.

Questions

Can I put a photo on a memorial shirt?

Yes, if you took the photo or have permission from whoever did. Upload it and Remi checks whether it is sharp enough at the size you place it; if not, it suggests a smaller print.

Can every guest's shirt have their own name?

Yes. Paste a list of names, one per line, and each shirt prints with its own - names and numbers cost nothing extra.

How late can I order for an event?

Production takes up to 10 business days, plus free tracked shipping. Order against the event date, and remember there is no minimum, so a late guest can be a separate order.

Can kids and adults match?

Yes. Youth and adult sizes go in one order at the same price per size, from youth XS to adult 2XL.
