Print Quality and Reprints

What a good direct-to-garment print looks like, which characteristics are normal rather than defects, when a print problem qualifies for a free reprint, and why a low-resolution file is the one limit we cannot print around.

Last updated: September 10, 2026. Beta policy, United States. This page is the detail behind the Refund Policy. Where the two differ, the Refund Policy governs.

Why this page exists

Direct-to-garment printing has a few characteristics that look like faults and are not, and one real limit that catches people out: we print the file you approved, and a print can only be as sharp as that file. Both are worth knowing before you order rather than after.

What we reprint or refund

Email service@aipromodesign.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a close-up photo of the print. We reprint or refund, our choice, if:

  • The print is materially different from the design you approved at checkout
  • The print is cracked, smeared, missing part of the design, or positioned well outside normal variation
  • The garment itself is defective: holes, seam failures, obvious staining
  • You received the wrong garment, color, or size compared with your order

Photographs are not a formality. Our print partner requires them to approve a reprint, and we cannot open a claim without them. We usually do not ask you to ship the item back.

What is normal, and not a defect

A faint smell on a new garment. Direct-to-garment printing uses a pre-treatment solution, and a new print can smell of it. It washes out.

A light residue around the print, mostly on pale garments. Same cause, same fix: wash cold, inside out, before wearing. Do not leave a pre-treated garment in direct sunlight before that first wash, which makes the residue harder to remove.

Color that does not match your screen. A screen emits light and fabric reflects it. Printed color lands close to the design, not identical to it.

Small differences in print position. Garments are loaded onto the press by hand, so position varies slightly from piece to piece.

Garment measurements within 1 inch of the size guide. Blank apparel is cut with a tolerance. A shirt an inch off the chart is a normal garment, not a defective one.

The artwork is the limit

We print what you approve. If the artwork is low-resolution, heavily compressed, or otherwise unsuitable for printing, the print will show it, and that is not something we can reprint for. Our print partner declines reprints on that basis, and so do we.

It is avoidable. For a chest print you generally want artwork at least 1500 pixels across, and a logo copied off a website is often 200. Read preparing artwork files before you order, and look at the preview at checkout - that file is the one that gets printed.

What we do not cover

  • Ordering the wrong size, color, or garment, or changing your mind after checkout
  • An address entered incorrectly at checkout
  • Wear from washing hot, bleaching, or machine drying on high
  • Carrier delays, or an order arriving after a date we did not commit to in writing

The full list, and how to file a claim, is in the Refund Policy. If something is wrong, email us before you dispute the charge: a reprint costs you nothing and usually resolves faster than a card dispute.
