A custom mug is the easiest gift to get wrong: a design you cannot see on the curve, a minimum order, a proof that arrives in a week. Here you describe the design, see it wrapped on the mug and order as many as you want - one for a gift or a dozen for a team.
What you are printing on
Every mug here is ceramic with a glossy finish and a C-handle, dishwasher and microwave safe. The design is printed by dye sublimation, which fuses the ink into the coating instead of laying it on top, so the colors stay vivid and do not wear off in the dishwasher. Choose the mug and its color above to see it.
- White mug: the classic, and the one that takes any design.
- Accent mug: the white mug with its inside and handle glazed in a color, so it carries a school or brand color without printing it. The design prints on the white outside, exactly as on the white mug.
- Black mug: glossy black, for bright designs - read the note below before you choose it.
This page sells the standard size of each; the details table has its height and width and the print area. Each mug also comes in a larger size, which is not on this page; the price row in the table says what it costs, and you can choose it in the designer. Blue on the accent mug is made in the larger size only.
White does not print on the black mug
Sublimation has no white ink. On the white and accent mugs that never shows, because the mug is white wherever the ink is not. On the black mug, anything white in a design does not print - it shows the mug's black, so white lettering or a white logo disappears. Bright colors stand out well on it. If your design depends on white, put it on the white or accent mug. The black mug's wrap is also a little smaller than the white mug's; the details table has both.
How the wrap works
A mug is printed as one wrap around the body. The handle interrupts it, so the design runs around the mug rather than all the way round - the table says how much is left bare, and it sits behind the handle where you would expect it. Designing one
Type what you want - "Best teacher ever, hand-lettered look, chalkboard green on white" - and you will see it on the mug. Already have a logo? Upload a PNG or SVG and place it. Then adjust by saying what is off: bigger, higher, drop the icon, add a date. Every revision renders on the mug, so the mockup you approve is what gets printed.

Quantities
An order is how many of which mug, in which color. Mix white, accent and black mugs in one order, and add shirts, totes or notebooks to the same checkout and they ship together.
Printing and turnaround
Orders are printed by US print-on-demand partners after you check out, which is why there is no minimum and nothing sits in a warehouse.
